About Taryn Pickett

I like to believe that this career naturally unfolded as part of braving my own path. I fell in love with the process of therapy and recovery as I worked to heal the wounds and habits that kept me stuck and in pain. Consequently, my life became full and with gratitude and purpose I made the decision to enter into the profession of compassionate healing.

As a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist in private practice I focus on issues related to addiction, mental health, and relationships. I have experience treating various emotional issues, including trauma/PTSD, depression, anxiety, panic disorder, grief/loss, anger/rage, as well as all substance use disorders.  I treat individuals, couples and families experiencing emotional and relational issues and I further specialize in treating military veterans, active duty service members and first responders struggling with readjustment issues, military sexual trauma, complex and re-occurring trauma, depression, anxiety and addictive disorders.

I’ve worked in diverse treatment settings, from inpatient and outpatient drug and alcohol treatment and a mental health clinic under the Veterans Administration. My vast experience have led me to serve in a multitude of roles such as Case Manager, Lead Therapist, Program Coordinator and Director of Clinical Services, cultivating a comprehensive skill set that contributes to my holistic approach to therapy.

Because of my interest in working with trauma survivors, I was trained in Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing (EMDR). I work through an integrative, humanistic approach that see’s the individual first and the relationship as an imperative agent for change.  I tailor my methodology and techniques to offer a personalized treatment plan, helping clients to understand themselves using strengths based and self-empowering approaches. I also utilize creative and effective therapies, including art and sand-tray therapy. Clients I’ve worked with have shared their appreciation for my transparency, compassion and ability to help find perspective and healing.
